Can you guess what this is? (CYGWTI #3)
Zahra, one of my Omani colleagues, sent these pretty attractive homemade sweets as Eid-Ul-Fitr gift to us today. So utterly delicious!
We do not know its name, recipe details, etc. I can get you the details hopefully by Sunday.
Meanwhile, can you guess what this is?

Baklava? which is usually made of chopped nuts, usually walnuts or pistachios, layered with phyllo pastry, sweetened with sugar or honey syrup
Semiya(vermicelli) laddu???
sivayan ladoos
I'd say vermicelli ladoos. Fried and then dipped in sugar syrup to make ladoos??
semolina/vermicelli halwa?
Wow! We are receiving quite a few amazing guesses! To keep up the surprise, the comments are hidden until this Sunday. Hope that is okay and is fun too!
It is a vermicelli(semiya) sweet.
Hi Vkn !! my first time here in ,and I am glued now to the wonderful recipes here ,thanks for sharing , nice work !!
and about the guess , I can only say its "Sevainyan ", being made during EID ,I guess its very thin thread like vermicelli thing ,but not vermicelli ,and made in Chashni (sugar-water syrup and rosewater)
What a feast! So many yummy recipes!! It was a great decision to celebrate the holidays in kitchen.
The delicious sweet in the pic looks like something made with semia. Are those soft or crunchy? Can't wait to read more about it.
Happy holidays!
is this some urundai made out of semiya?
Hello,
Is it Semiya cooked in ghee????
vkn sir, I think this is the traditional semiya kesari sweet which is served in most Muslim functions.
Is this sweet Borma, or Boremah, or however you spell it - it's filled with pista nuts and honey - a friend brought it from Egypt. Delicious!
VKN, thanks for stopping by my blog, and for the invite to VCC, will try to participate, time permitting.
wow! you've been really busy with the posting! I came back after a few days and you've got a lot of new posts for me to catch up to!
This sweet looks yummy...is it something made with vermicilli? like a vermicilli kesari shaped in molds?
cheers!
Is that sevaiyan made in a different way? cant wait till sunday!
Hmm...my guess would be it is a pudding/halwa sort of thing made with fried vermicelli ?
Am guessing that it is some vermicelli preparation. Initially it looked like grated carrots to me but once i observed more carefully it definitely appears like vermicelli. May be it includes both carrots , raisins and vermicelli- some kind of halwa.
Hi Vkn,
Thanks for your comments on my blog and thanks for the invite
Looks like sevaiyan to me, at least a part of the ingredient

It could be Semiya Laddo or some kind of bakalava made with kataifi, shredded phyllo dough.
